So unless if you have been hiding under a rock for the past few decades, you may already know that Rogers is one of the biggest media companies in Canada. They have been in business for a very long time and people generally trust the company because they are somewhat reliable when it comes to internet, cable, and telecommunications services.
However, being a large telecommunications company doesn’t always mean being the best home security solution for many people. As with any company, there are pros and cons to consider before making a purchase. Here is a short list of the pros and cons associated with Rogers smart home security systems that you need to be aware of. A more comprehensive list can be found bellow but this is just the short version for those of you that don’t have the time to read my entire Rogers home monitoring review in one sitting.
Rogers Smart Home Monitoring Pros
Rogers is a household name among many Canadians…meaning they are not a little fly by night company that will vanish in the next few months like so many companies who have done before it. This means you can trust that they will be here for a very long time so you don’t have to worry too much about being left to hang dry on your own.
Rogers Smart Home Monitoring Cons
Even though Rogers is a humongous telecommunications and media company, they are not known for being a very good home security provider like their rival Frontpoint is. It seems a lot of people are complaining about how unreliable the Rogers home alarm systems are whenever they use them. The frustration many people are having with Rogers can be witnessed in the video bellow for example.
The Rogers home security system is also quite expensive considering the fact that they force their customers to bundle other services of with their monitoring solution. This is a problem because they push customers to bundle internet, cable, and phone services with them, which in turn makes the offering way more expensive than it really needs to be.
Many people find it annoying because the Rogers security system isn’t that great as you’ve seen above, so the fact they have to pay so much for it makes Rogers a very frustrating choice. That’s why most people prefer going with Frontpoint Security instead because they offer far better products and services than Rogers.
Like most home security companies, Rogers offers three different home monitoring packages to it’s customers in an attempt to ensure that people get their security needs met. I’ll mention the three packages bellow and give a short description about what each of these plans offer but if you need a more detailed explanation about whats included, I would suggest clicking the links for each package to learn more. Keep in mind that all these packages come with the Rogers smart home monitoring touchpad and/or thermostat.
The regular price for the Protect Package is $39.99 per month. It comes with a two year contract and is requested to be bundled with their Ignite Internet 30 plan….or another higher priced internet plan which they offer. You only get basic security and monitoring with this package.
The regular price for the Assure Package is $49.99 per month. It comes with a two year contract and is requested to be bundled with their Ignite Internet 30 plan….or another higher priced internet plan which they offer. This package comes with home security monitoring and video surveillance.
The regular price for the Control Package is $59.99 per month. It comes with a two year contract and is requested to be bundled with their Ignite Internet 30 plan….or another higher priced internet plan which they offer. This higher priced package comes with home security monitoring, video surveillance, and fire & leak monitoring as well.
A lot of people have been asking me if I think the Rogers smart home monitoring offer is any good. My response to that is usually the same. It all depends on your personal needs. However after reading all the pros and cons associated with this company, I would recommend checking out their rival Frontpoint Security instead because they have a way better reputation than Rogers when it comes to offering home security services.
I like the fact that Frontpoint doesn’t force customers to bundle services and they have a shorter contract term than Rogers does. You may want to check out this detailed comparison table bellow to see why Frontpoint is a better choice than Rogers in my opinion.
